QuickLogic’s Eclipse II Low-Power FPGAs Available for Industrial Temperature Applications

  • Low-power devices cut down battery weight in hand-held devices
  • Extended temperature range opens new applications for low-power FPGAs

QuickLogic Corporation (Nasdaq: QUIK), the pioneer of Embedded Standard Products (ESPs), today announced the company’s Eclipse II family of ultra low power FPGAs is now available for applications requiring components that operate over the industrial temperature range. All Eclipse family members are qualified for operation at the extended industrial temperature range (-40 degrees to +100 degrees Celsius device junction temperature).

“With industrial temperature qualification, many new applications are available for QuickLogic’s popular Eclipse II family of low-power FPGAs,” says Brian Faith, QuickLogic’s Director of Logic Products. “With minimal power dissipation, systems using Eclipse II components benefit from less heating and, if battery operated, the ability to employ smaller battery systems, reducing system size, weight and cooling requirements.”

Many applications require operation over the industrial temperature range, including ruggedized handheld devices, portable instrumentation and test equipment, as well as avionics and civil aerospace systems. Along with the benefits of ultra-low power consumption, Eclipse II also provides small form-factor packaging, instant-on capability and bulletproof design security from IP theft and reverse engineering.

All members of the Eclipse II family are currently available for industrial temperature applications. QuickLogic is planning to release a military temperature version of Eclipse II later this year.

About Eclipse II

QuickLogic’s Eclipse II μWatt family of ultra-low power FPGAs combines the enhanced features of next-generation FPGA devices with power consumption lower than that available with CPLDs. Eclipse II features include densities up to 320,000 system gates, up to 55,000 bits of on-chip dual-port SRAM, and standby currents as low at 14μA. See the QuickLogic website for additional information on Eclipse II.
