Frame Recycler

A system designer is designing an LCD-based tablet computer. The existing CPU chosen for the tablet does have a display frame buffer which allows 30 FPS content refresh to the display; however, there are a number of other processor functions tied in with the frame buffer that cannot individually powered down. Those processor functions are not used when the tablet is functioning as an e-reader (that is, in a static display mode), and they consume significant power resources.

The frame recycler PSB from QuickLogic removes the static display refresh requirements from the CPU, and allow for it to go into a sleep mode until the next change of display content is requested.
