While the ideal design of a smartphone and tablet would include a processor and display of matching interfaces, many times BOM restrictions, part availability, target specification or other factors preclude this. When faced with differing display interface standards, system designers must rely on a display bridge device to allow their components to ‘talk’ to each other.
To address these needs, QuickLogic’s ArcticLink III BX solution platform features a variety of display bridge variants, useful for applications from a tablet-based RGB to LVDS design, or in more complication smartphone design where a single MIPI-DSI 2 lane output from the processor needs to be sent as a MIPI-DSI 4-lane to the 720p embedded display, as well as bridged to RGB for an MHL transmitter.
The ArcticLink III BX features 15 silicon variants, which differ in the input and output(s) supported, as well as maximum resolution. The ArcticLink III BX bridge solution is ideal for applications where high-performance, low power and small size are keys to success.
The ArcticLink III BX is also pin-identical with QuickLogic’s ArcticLink III VX solution, which features VEE and DPO. This allows system designers to easily transition from the BX to a VX device to harness the power savings advantages of DPO and viewability advantages of VEE.
